Japanese Comic or manga that portrays the twisted and suspenseful story of Yamagi Light, a genius who gets his ambitious hands on the Notebook of Death. Upon writing a persons name and the cause of death within its pages the person will die 40 seconds later. However, Light has to overcome the police and super sleuth "L" who pursue him before he can "cleanse the earth" of filth.

one of the newest, most popular and up-and-coming animes I've ever seen. it's not like most traditional animes that focus on fighting, evolving, building up power, or involving some kind of giant mech machine. No, Death Note is a story of a brilliant boy named Light who finds a supernatural note book dropped deliberately by a bored Death god (Ryuk). The note has the ability to kill anybody whose name is written in it. Furthermore, the time of death, cause of death, and events leading up to the death can all be manipulated simply by writing it down. Light chooses to use this amazing notebook to "judge" the world. He begins executing criminals and believes justice is on his side. He figures soon all crime will cease altogether and he will rule this world as its "God". Unfortunately for Light, the police are trying to solve the mystery of the strange deaths that are killing off all convicted criminals. Having no major leads, they call in "L", a super detective whom rarely anyone has met. He has never failed a case, and is incredibly smart. By this time, the world has branded the person believed responsible for criminal deaths as "Kira" meaning "killer". Soon enough, a battle of wits ensues between Kira and L. L is trying to find out who Kira is. Light is trying to find out who L is, and what's his name. Whoever obtains their goal first wins, and the loser faces the penalty of death. I strongly recommend this anime. It's different, suspenseful, dark, and more suited for teens not children. It's already been made into two movies. and a third is on the way, based on the character "L".

The murder weapon from the popular anime/manga series, Death Note. To use the death note all one needs to do is write a person's name down while picturing their face. The owner of the death note is haunted by a [shinigami] for the entire time they have it. They may make the "eye trade" with the shinigami at anytime, which would give them the ability to see a person's name just by looking at them.

An amazing anime about a high school genius named Light, and an equally smart detective named L. Also, it focuses a lot on snacks. Dramatically.

Yagami Light is an ace student with great prospects, who's bored out of his mind. One day he finds the "Death Note": a notebook from the realm of the Death Gods, with the power to kill people in any way he desires. With the Death Note in hand, Light decides to create his perfect world, without crime or criminals. However, when criminals start dropping dead one by one, the authorites send the legendary detective L to track down the killer, and a battle of wits, deception and logic ensues.

Death Note aired on Adult Swim from 2007–2010. There are a total of 37 episodes.

A manga and anime series about a bored, teenaged genuis named Light who finds a notebook that can kill people, called the Death Note. He uses it get rid of the people who are causing the world to "rot", but it's soon noticed that criminals are dying of heart attacks (the Death Note's default cause of demise) at alarming rates. Light becomes known as "Kira", dirived from the English word "killer", and a legandary detective, known as "L", is assigned to this case. The first half of the story revolves around Light and L's game of cat and mouse, which is made interesting because both characters are intelligent to the point that it's inhuman.

There's no way Naruto will die - the only manga that is allowed to kill off the main character is Death Note.

An extremley popular manga from here in Japan, has been made into an anime, and 2 movies. Ahhh its so good, If you like manga and anime, you should DEFFINATLY get into this one. The actual death note is a notebook made for the Shinigami (death gods) to shorten peoples lifespan, but its possible for a human to get their hands one one. They are fictional, but i wish they were real, it would be damn sexy. Light is one of the main characters, he's extremley smart its almost inhuman. :D

In my opinion, the greatest comic / cartoon of the 21st century. Maybe it's due to the fact that: -The manga series was finished when the anime begin, so it doesn't have that many unnecessary fillers like Naruto and Bleach etc... -The story is neither too long nor too short and has an ending, unlike the majority with unlimited episodes+fillers. -Its original yet suspenseful storyline is a breath of fresh air from the typical teenage anime/manga you see. -A battle of wits instead of flashy attacks.

If you're a fan of the manga death note, then you might as well check out "LIAR GAME", written by Shinobu Kaitani.

Death Note is A fantabulous manga series about Light Yagami, a seventeen year old high school student in Japan. He finds a death note, dropped by Ryuk the shinigami, and proceeds to use it to rid the world of evil. The way a death note works is that you write a name down in it and...they die. You have to know their name and face. If you don't specify a cause and a time, they'll die in 30 seconds of a heart attack. Light kills off the world's nastiest, most wanted criminals, thinking he's doing good. However, his plans may be foiled by the mysterious "L", who works together with the police and the FBI to track down "Kira", the name that people all over the world use to refer to him. This awesome series is also an anime, and is a movie in Japan. It will soon be a movie in America as well, starring...**gag**...Zac Efron.

1) The anime / manga serise death note is amazing. A Bored 17 year old named Light Yagami (or Yagami Raito) Picks up a Death Note droped by an equaly bored shinigami named Ryuk. If you write a name in the death note while thinking about a persons face they die. Light tests this out and discovers it is true. He decideds to rid the world of evil by killing criminals, he intends to become the "God of the new world\!" Lights father is a Police officer working with L to try to catch Kira (which is what there calling the person killing all the criminals). THe anime/manga turns into a complicated cat and mouse game between L and light, if L can prove Light is Kira, he will be executed, if light can find out Ls real name he can kill him with the death note. 2) Death note is The name of the "wepon" in Death note. it is literaly a notebook of death. anyone whos name is written in the note book dies. 3) Death note has been made into 2 movies in japan and there is also a sequel to it called L change the world. There is a possibilty that the americans are making Death note into a movie. 4)There is a lot of Death note fanfictions the majoirty of which are Yaoi usualy between L and Light, Mello and Matt, Mello and Near, Mello and L, Ryuk and Light. L and Light seems to be the most popular. There are many places in which you will find yaoi death note stories/pictures. google images, fanfiction.net, Deviant art, there are even role plays on facebook.

1. Death Note is a Japanese manga series and later adapted to an anime series after notable popularity. The story and plot centers around an emo but brilliant kid known as Light Yagami who is a coward but wanted to be god. He got his chance when he found a supernatural note book on his way back home. This supernatural note book belongs to the shinigami (death god) known as Ryuk and with the book he can kill people by writing their name in the Death Note as long as he knows their name and face. Light starts to kill criminals in the name of justice making it as his responsibility as a good to judge and purge criminals in order to give birth to an utopia, a world without crime and a world that emos can grow happy. He turned into an osama and upgraded himself from emo to sadistic emo. After much fine and fun killing Light was then pursued by a half man, half monkey, sweet obsessed but awesome detective known as L who was shocked, interested then jealous of his great ability and wanted to catch and punish Light in the name of justice too\! He actually wanted the book you can see it in his cartoon eyes\! Light realizes that L will be his greatest nemesis, and a race to prove mental superiority between the two begins since both can't do any kick-ass fighting moves or any bad-ass special techniques. Mental is all they got to sell in this story\! The plot becomes more brutal and thrilling as the sadistic emo Light and the sweet loving monkey L risk their worthless life to catch each other. The best part: Light tricks Rem another shinagami to kill L and his poor butler and succeeded and Light wins, L dies. In the end it doesn't even matter though as Light was killed by... Ryuk the owner of the Death Note\! The death gods win\! It was a fun plot all along for Ryuk's pure entertainment. You can see that coming alright\! The story ends with the other surviving characters of the story feeling extremely stupid in the end (they wished they were dead) and the death gods feeling bored again and left without any apples. 2. Death Note is an anime that was banned in some schools in China because it was just too cool for the Chinese to handle. Some schools in Shenyang, China have banned the manga after some of their students started to tease friends and teachers by altering a notebook to resemble a Death Note and writing their names in them, which actually violates copyright laws and promotes piracy. The newspaper Shenyang Night Report called Death Note "poison, creating wicked hearts". Others however, including one major Chinese newspaper, felt that the ban is an overreaction and is inappropriate compared to Mao Zedong's act of burying forty-six thousand scholars alive, claiming that he did it for the lulz. Beijing also has a ban on "horror stories" around schools to protect the already tarnished "physical and mental health" of retarded students, which includes local adaptations of Death Note. "If I can't, then these spoiled Chinese fucktards are one hundred years too early for Death Note\!" a Cuban teacher said referring to his failure of creating a Death Note as a part of communist movement and reform. It is said that Osama bin Laden was enlightened and drops down to his knees in tears when he finished the anime. He was depressed by the fact that his Allah didn't give him a Death Note but allowed those short and pervert Japanese to manhandle it.
